Hello guys,
I’m kinda new to all of this, just have a quick question though. What should we use for domain names for the blogs? Should they have our keywords in them? And is it okay to use .us (and similar) domains?
Cheers,
Patrick
Definitely, you must put your keywords in your domain name.
I don’t live in the USA so I didn’t try .us domains, I can’t tell about it, I can only advice to stay out of .info domains.
My advice: buy a short name domain, and put 10 blogs max as subdomains of your domain. Put 4 keywords max in your subdomain.
E.g.:
http://www.mqet.com
then create blogs on:
http://sexygirls.mqet.com
http://nastywebcams.mqet.com
etc.
There’s this website to find 4-letters domains:
http://www.dyyo.com/
should we link the subdomains to the main domain or its that a big nono?
You can do it, but ONLY ONE-WAY LINKS! And preferably main domain linking to subdomains.
Ok I wasn’t specific about this in my post, so be careful: A better strategy (that I recommend) is to actually put a blog on the main domain, because all the links to your subdomains will bring value to your main domain as well, thus increasing the traffic to your main blog.
In the end your main blog would probably receive more traffic than your subdomains.
Awesome, I’ve been looking forward to this.
I’m planning to start out with a batch of 10 blogs, do you think I could start out on shared hosting? I figure since the goal is targeted organic search engine traffic it’ll be a little while until the bulk of the traffic starts coming in, and by then I could upgrade to a VPS or dedi.
Yes shared hosting will do, I have shared and dedicated servers, and on one shared hosting account I have something like 5000 blogs pageviews a day without any problem.
Alan,
Which program do you recommend under Adult Friend Finder?
Thanks for such an awsome idea!
Patrick
Forget about those geo-ip targeted ads, they are on every website nowadays so they don’t work very well anymore. (That’s those ads that says “Meet online girls in (your city)”.
What works for me are the fake youtube-like videos, which are just pictures with a “play” icon on it.
You can try to add the Adultfriendfinder RSS feed along your custom feed in wp-o-matic, that doesn’t work so well for me, but that’s a bit of extra content to put in your blog.
hey alan, where do i send you my email to? i would like to be setup to have access to your resource site so i can utilize your information. please let me know where to send my email.
sorry, i found the email. hehe, i sent you a email showing my interest in this project. im ready to get started. lets do this and make $3000 a month from this
Which of the following is best under Adult Friend Finder?
Option I – Per-Click Program – Get paid for each click
Option II – Percentage Program – Split the earnings with us
Option III – Per Order Payout
Sorry should have specified what i meant before
Option I is good to start
But when you start to get good traffic, option II is better
I got your email.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity.
But looks like I can’t try the bangbros affiliate.
They don’t allow my country. lol
hi alan,
can i get access to this project? i sent u a email yesturday please let me in….
thanks
I sent you an email, please email me if you don’t receive it
hey alan,
I sent you a message yesterday but havent heard anything back yet, sorry to harass but I really want in.
Any thoughts on using WordPress MU? That way you can run multiple different blogs on subdomains and administer them through a single interface.
Is there a problem with this that I’m not seeing?
Yes that’s something I didn’t try much because wordpress mu was not working very well when I did set-up my blogs.
Using fantastico wordpress install, with copy-paste of my settings took me 3 minutes, so I didn’t investigate the problems with mu.
But anyone who wants to have a try now, please share your results!
Alan,
2 questions:
1: why should we use no more than 10 subdomains per domain?
2. in your resource section, there are some pics deleted – see below:
Anyway, there is still one thing you must do : change the simplepie library. It is very easy, by default simplepie remove, and tags from feeds, and the youtube videos links are using, and tags. Normally wp-o-matic should use media RSS but it doesn’t so you have to alter the simplepie library so it doesn’t remove
– there are 3 images missing from above. what’s missing so I can finish this part up?
thanks for some great ideas!
This is actually an IE bug, its all there. You just need to view it with firefox or another.
cool. I have FF, so no problem. What about the subdomain part?
Thanks Patrick for answering #2,
About the 10 blogs number, the purpose of this project is to be “grayhat”, which means, creating blogs that will stick for a while.
Therefore you don’t want to start having a website that would look like a blog farm…
I will describe soon the “blackhat” way of doing this project (I’ll put it in the resources section, I don’t want to make it public).
How is everyone doing on their blogs? Any results yet?
I have only gotten two up so far, but im starting to get a good amount of hits
can u show me how one of you pages looks? i am not sure how im supposed to set up the blog. ive been collecting pictures and stuff but not sure how im supposed to put it all together.
i wont copy yours, i just wanna see how it should look
Sure, here are the two sites I have done:
http://sexy-amateurs.us
http://lesbian-lovers.us
Its pretty straight forward. If you have any questions, post them here and I’ll do my best to try to answer them.
I would like in please
I have sent you the info, you are the last who got in.
If anyone is interested in the future, send me an email because I am going to remove inactive members, so everytime I will remove one lurker, I will allow a new member to get in.
Otherwise be patient, I will post a new project soon.
Hey Alan, did you got my last mail? I have some ideas would like to talk to you.
I finally finished college and now have enough time to approach this thing seriously.
First question I have so far: would you recommend against using sub-directories instead of sub-domains for the 10 blogs per domain? The way I’m approaching this and the restrictions on my hosting would make using subdirectories far simpler. I eventually plan to buy a VPS where this won’t be an issue, but for the short term I’m stuck with shared hosting.
I created a new post to answer to your question : http://www.ideasbeta.com/subdomains-or-subdirectories
I have to admit that I have never used a cheap host which would put big restrictions on subdomains, so I guess my answer would be : change hosting, even hostgator $5 basic account let you set unlimited domains and subdomains without problems.
http://www.ideasbeta.com/hostgator-promo.php (this is an affiliate link to redirect you to the current promotions)
Anyway, another solution for you is to use free URL forwarding services. (e.g. ulimit.com)
TIP: when registering a domain, choosing a blogname or free URL redirection address, always put your keywords in the name you choose (no more than 5 keywords). It will boost your chances of being listed high in google. But… Usually you will find out that most interesting terms are already taken… No worry, just pick the one you like and add a digit at the end (0 to 9). You will still get good love from Google.
Hostgator is actually the host I’m using
. They certainly don’t restrict sub-domains, and after reading your post I will definitely use them instead of sub-directories. Thanks for taking the time to write that up.
What I’d like to be able to do eventually though is use WPMU for this project, and WPMU is a bitch to setup on shared hosting (tried for a long time with Hostgator’s support, to no avail).
Forgot to mention, WPMU with *sub-domains* is what I can’t setup on shared hosting, but I can set it up with sub-directories easily, which is why I asked.
To setup WPMU with subdomains on a shared account, you will need to ask to your host support to have wildcard DNS set for your domain. But it is possible to do with Hostgator, look at WordPress support forums.
Usually with shared account, the activation of wildcard DNS is done only if you request it, so you need a bit of effort to setup WPMU with subdomains, indeed.
So it really depends on how many domains you will setup. If it is only a few, you can take the time to setup subdomains.
Anyway, if you intend to create a lot of domains, I wouldn’t recommend shared hosting, but in this case just go with subdirectories.
Yeah, Hostgator support said they enabled DNS wildcard support, but still no dice. Subdomains created by WPMU still don’t exist, can’t even ping them. So either they did something wrong, I’m doing something wrong, or it’s something else. It’s just hard to know exactly with shared hosting
.
I think I will just manually create subdomains for individual WordPress installs for now, with the intention of getting at least a VPS in the near future and moving to WPMU. Just trying to look at ways to scale this process in the future if I achieve some decent preliminary results.
Alan,
Once problem I’m having is that when wp o matic pulls my RSS feed, it posts all my items in a relatively short period of time. I have my Cron Job set to once a day, and in options, have it set to check the RSS once a day (1 day 5 hours 0 minutes)
What do i need to do to have 1 post a day?
thanks.
I think I answered my own question. I haven’t used your RSS creator, but I did look at what your script does. I notice that yours inserts a date stamp on each feed item. My script didn’t datestamp.
By inserting a datestamp so that each item has a different day attached to it, WP O Matic will not throw them all up at once.
My bad.
I thought I had this fixed, but I don’t. Has anyone else had the issue of all their RSS posts hitting at once via WP O Matic? How have you fixed this?
I thought is was because I didn’t have a datestamp, but I have corrected that and the issue still occurs. Any suggestions?
Drop me an email
adultproject [at] ideasbeta.com
with the url of your site and I’ll take a look
If I have a bunch of content e.g. the stories, text files, pictures and videos etc, does anyone know how to create an RSS feed from this that I can get wpomatic posting this content daily? I don’t have access to the resources section so I can’t use the script in there.
Alan,
Like to join the VIP, mega-blog party please.
Let me know when you’ve got a spot. I’ll be going it alone in the interim.
